Little League Girl Throws Perfect Game Mackenzie Brown is the first girl in Bayonne Little League history to throw a perfect game. She retired all 18 boys she faced on Tuesday, striking out 12, including the last six batters she faced, according to The Star-Ledger of Newark. |

USA comes from behind over Canada; Defeats Japan 7-0 The USA Women’s Softball team garnered two victories and an Olympic record for home runs in a game on Friday afternoon at Fengtai Field. The Noon game saw the U.S. record its third shutout with a 7-0 five-inning victory over 2006 World Championship silver medal team Japan. In game two, the U.S. entered the game down 1-0 in the fourth inning after the game was suspended on Thursday due to weather. Capitalizing on Canadian errors, the U.S. took the lead in the sixth and sealed the win in the seventh with an 8-1 victory. |

U.S. opens with Olympic record for most runs scored in a game The USA Softball team opened the 2008 Olympic Games making a statement breaking an Olympic record for most runs scored in a game by a single team and tying an Olympic record with three homeruns. The three-time defending Gold Medal winning team captured an 11-0 victory in five innings against Olympic rookie team Venezuela. Breaking its own previous record which was 10 runs from the 2004 Olympic Games, the U.S. used 11 hits including three home runs and a base clearing double to improve to a 15-game win Olympic win streak dating back to 2000. |

2008 USA Softball Women’s National team roster named for Beijing Olympic Games OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – The Amateur Softball Association of America (ASA) announced today its 15-person roster and three replacement players that will compete this August in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China. These 15 athletes will look to defend three consecutive Olympic Gold Medals when they begin competition in China on August 12. |

Virginia Tech Breaks Team USA 185 Pre-Olympic Tour Win Streak OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. ---- It was an up and down night for the USA Softball Women’s National team blowing through the DePaul Blue Demons 23-0 in game one, before succumbing to a no-hit 1-0 loss in game two against Virginia Tech. Suffering its first pre-Olympic tour lost since May 3, 1996 when the U.S. lost to California Select in Los Angeles, Calif., the loss breaks a 185-game pre-Olympic tour win streak. During that time, Team USA has outscored opponents 1,475-24. |

USA Goes Extra Innings for 1-0 Win in Judy Garman Classic FULLERTON, Calif. – The fans at the Judy Garman Classic got their money’s worth as the USA Women’s National team went nine innings for a 1-0 win over No. 16 Louisiana-Lafayette as part of the KFC Bound 4 Beijing Tour in Fullerton, Calif. Jenny Topping (Whittier, Calif.) led the team with an RBI going 2-for-2 while Cat Osterman (Houston, Calif.) threw 11 strikeouts for her third win of the tour. |

Olympic Team to Play In Fullerton, Irvine The Amateur Softball Association of America (ASA) announced today the schedule for the 2008 Bound 4 Beijing Tour which will feature the 2008 USA Softball Women’s’ National Team competing in over 40 cities in preparation for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. The tour, which includes stops in Fullerton and Irvine, will kick off February 9 with a game against back-to-back National Champions, the University of Arizona Wildcats. |

USA Softball Women's National Team Claims Eighth Pan American Championship The team had an impressive showing at the Championships despite rain delays and game cancellations. The red, white and blue outscored opponents 28 - 0, allowing only two hits in 22 innings. The offense was just as explosive with the team putting up 32 hits for a .358 batting average. The team run-ruled three of the four teams played. |

USA Shuts Out Cuba to Go 3-0 at Pan Am Games With a 10-0 shutout over Cuba, the USA Women’s National Team secured the top spot in their pool at the XV Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The team (3-0) has allowed no hits in three games and will play tomorrow against the winner of Canada vs. Venezuela, as they get one game closer to winning the program’s eighth Pan American gold medal.
